Shotcrete Training: Changes to Certification in 2012

 Dear ACI Certification Sponsoring Group:

Here is the latest update from the ACI Certification Department.

**** UNION EXAMINATION SESSIONS ****

Beginning Fall of 2010, ACI began to revise policies and procedures affecting direct involvement of union personnel in the ACI Certification testing process. As of September 30, 2011, unions were no longer allowed to test their constituents for ACI Certification. You may have already seen an increase in the contact with union locals as a result of this change, as union personnel must now seek testing through the local Sponsoring Groups in their areas.
Beginning in 2012, ACI is enacting tighter requirements for testing session venues: testing sessions may not employ union facilities (i.e., union hall, training facility, or any facility dedicated primarily to union activities), and union personnel other than examinees may not be present at the testing venue during the exam. These requirements are designed to facilitate the arrangement of neutral testing environments exclusively under the control of Examiners; since the concerns these requirements are designed to address are not exclusive to testing union personnel, ACI encourages Sponsoring Groups to be sensitive to and avoid similar situations when planning and conducting non-union sessions.
We understand that many ACI Sponsoring Groups and Examiners have fostered excellent relationships with local union personnel; ACI also desires to maintain not only these, but also constructive relationships with both union and non-union affiliated entities at the national level. We apologize for any inconveniences encountered in the enforcement of these requirements, but believe they are necessary to maintain the long term integrity and credibility of the credentialing programs ACI offers.
