Shotcrete Nozzleman Certification Process Changes from ACI

Dear ACI Certification Local Sponsoring Group contact:

Here is the latest information update from the ACI Certification Department.

Feel free to forward to anyone in your Local Sponsoring Group who may not have access to e-mail.

**** NEW STAFF ****

We are pleased to announce Brian Jackson has joined the ACI Certification Department as a Certification Operations Representative. Brian received his Associates Degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix and previously worked for Petco as a Team Lead and more recently, Department Manager. Brian will be responsible for exam and work experience processing and customer service. Please join me in welcoming Brian to the ACI Certification team.

**** NEW LOCAL SPONSORING GROUP APPROVED **** We are pleased to announce the Bahrain Chapter ACI has been approved as the ACI Certification Local Sponsoring Group (LSG) for the Kingdom of Bahrain.

**** SPANISH LANGUAGE WORKBOOK ****

The Spanish-language version of the ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician

Grade I workbook, CP-1S (10), is now available directly from ACI. The price of the workbook is $95 to ACI members and $160 to nonmembers; quantity discounts are available.**** CHAPTER ACTIVITY AWARD ****

The Chapter Activities Award was established in 1975 to recognize individuals for their outstanding service to ACI Chapters and outstanding service in the promotion and development of a chapter or chapters. Nominations for the 2012 Chapter Activities Award must be submitted by July 9, 2011 for consideration.

Presentation of this award will take place at the 2012 ACI Spring Convention in Dallas, Texas. For more information, go to:

http://www.concrete.org/members/mem_info_awards.htm#chapteractivities**** LSG JURISDICTIONS ****

Your LSG has been granted authority to conduct ACI certification program(s) within a specific geographical area. Your LSG may conduct examination sessions in areas outside of this territory if the area has not been assigned to another LSG. However, if the area is assigned to another LSG, you will need to secure written permission from that LSG in order to conduct examinations in their territory.

**** INSPECTOR PROGRAM ****

We have worked very hard to improve the quality of the Plan-Reading Drawings Packet for the Concrete Construction Special Inspector and Concrete Transportation Construction Inspector Plan-Reading Examinations. However, some examinees still have difficulty reading the fine details of the Plan-Reading Drawings Packet.

One of our LSGs has solved this problem by purchasing magnifying glasses for use by examinees during the examination. We will continue to look for ways to improve this portion of the examination.

**** EXAMINERS REVIEWING EXAM MATERIALS **** According to ACI program policy, examiners, proctors, supplemental examiners, and Local Sponsoring Groups have no jurisdiction over the content of either examination, or over the grading of the written examination. Examiners are NOT authorized to review ACI written exam materials in order to prepare training/review courses.

In addition, examiners are not authorized to grade examinations and give out preliminary pass/fail opinions. Examiners and LSG found to be violating this policy may be suspended.
